Northern University runs across multiple campuses in Dhaka with an emphasis on access and affordability. A practical guide to programs, eligibility, and current tuition.
Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) was established in 2002 by the Northern University Bangladesh Foundation. Its identity differs from most private universities in one key dimension: rather than concentrate resources at one prestige campus, NUB has historically operated multiple campuses across Dhaka, prioritising accessibility for working students and learners from outside central Dhaka.
The main campus is at Ashkona, in Dakshin Khan near the airport. The Dhanmondi 7/A wing handles graduate and executive programs, while other campus offices have operated periodically in different parts of the city.
Programs
- BBA: Largest enrolment program. Standard concentrations in Finance, Marketing, HR, and a separate stream in Banking and Insurance.
- LLB: A four-year undergraduate Law program. NUB has produced graduates who have moved into magistrate-court practice and corporate legal teams.
- CSE: Mid-size department.
- EEE: Functional engineering program.
- Pharmacy (5 years): B.Pharm program with industry placement focus.
- English: Communicative English curriculum.
- Architecture (5 years): Smaller but accredited program.
Campus and Access
The Ashkona main campus is functional rather than glamorous — a multi-storey academic block with labs, classrooms, and a central library. The location near the airport makes it accessible for students from Uttara, Tongi, and even Gazipur.NUB does not aim to compete with NSU or BRACU on facilities or marketing. Its competitive positioning is on cost and geographic accessibility.
