Green University of Bangladesh Admission Guide 2026: Riverside Purbachal Campus, CSE & Textile Focus

Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) was established in 2003 and is the rare private university whose name actually matches its campus. After years of operating from rented spaces in Dhanmondi, GUB moved in 2018 to its permanent campus near the Kanchan Bridge on the Purbachal Bypass — an open, low-rise campus alongside greenery and the river, very different from the vertical Dhaka campuses most private universities run.

The Campus Is the Selling Point

If you have visited the GUB Purbachal campus, the first thing that strikes you is space. Lawns, outdoor seating, a central library building, separate engineering and business blocks. It is the closest private analogue to a public university's spatial feel.

The trade-off is commute. From central Dhaka you are looking at roughly 90 minutes during peak hours. GUB operates a fleet of student buses across the city to manage this, but the location is decisive — students who live in Banasree, Demra, Tarabo, or East Dhaka have an advantage.

• Textile Engineering: One of the better-regarded textile engineering programs in the private sector, given the industry's gravity in Bangladesh.

Admission Test

Combined SSC + HSC GPA of 6.50 for Business and Arts, 7.00 for Engineering and Textile Engineering. HSC Math required for engineering applicants.

Who GUB Fits

A student from east Dhaka who wants a real campus rather than a vertical academic building, who values affordability, and who is open to a daily bus commute, will probably get more out of GUB than out of a more central but cramped competitor. For applicants from west or south Dhaka, the commute is a serious factor that should be visited before committing.
